I, 9th Kentucky Volunteer Regiment. James survived the war, Willis did not. James was married three times, probably four. Most likely his first marriage was on 25 Mar 1849 to Nancy Trout. There is little information on the marriage, but it seemed to be over (how? why?) by December of 1849. His second wife was Nancy Ellen FREEMAN who died 28 Dec 1888, Wayne Co, IL. They married 7 Sep 1851. She was the mother of James's seven children. On 13 May 1889 he married Mary E. BAKER OWENS (widow? divorcee?), who d 4 Feb 1894. James then married Louisa J. "Eliza" JESSAP on 7 Apr 1894 in Wayne Co, IL. Eliza outlived James and married Pleasant C. Green in 1910.
