He had four brothers and seven sisters.Floyd attended the public schools of Hopkins County and served in the Army during World War I. He attended Western Kentucky State College and Bowling Green Business School. He later served as Sheriff in Hopkins County.He married Gladys I Marks, daughter of William Jesse and Geneva (Myers) Marks. After serving as Sheriff, he served as Chief of U.S. Scouts, stationed at Fort Huachuca in Arizona. He later returned to Hopkins County and served as Parole and Probation Officer.Floyd died on 15 February 1961, at the age of 68 and was buried in Beulah Cemetery, Beulah, KY.
