I am searching for two Davis families:
JAMES DAVIS, b. before 1760; died, 1810, Louisville, KY
Md. _______________WILLIAMS
Children:
1. Delicia Davis, md. 15 Mar 1794, Mercer Co., KY to Robert MCGARY; d.
Gibson Co., Indiana, bef. 1809.
2. Elizabeth "Betsy" Davis; md. Jul 1799, Hopkins Co., KY to William R.

3. Mary "Polly" Davis; md. 26 Jan 1809, Hopkins Co., KY, to Pierson NEWSON
4. Sarah "Sally" Davis; md. 24 Jan 1806, Christian Co., KY, to John PARKER
5. Martha Davis; md. 8 Oct 1807, Hopkins Co., KY, to John ROBERTSON
6. Nancy Davis; b. 1 Jan 1774/84; md. 30 Aug 1797, Montgomery Co., KY to
Joseph MONTGOMERY; d. 20 Nov 1849, Gibson Co., IN
7. James Davis, Jr.; md. 21 Jun 1795, Mercer Co., KY to Martha LIGON; d.

9. Benjamin Davis
10. Robert Davis; md. 21 Jun 1809, Christian Co., KY to Jane BLYTHE
Patsy Davis md. James MONTGOMERY
I am also looking for information on Henry Davis born in Tennessee (perhaps
Davidson County or Robertson Co.) around 1770. Henry married Susan,
probably in Tennessee, and they moved to Sangamon County, Illinois before
1820. He died in Sangamon County in 1839.
I believe Henry and Susan had the following children:
Polly md. Redding PATE
John
Eliza md. William Riley PATE
Henry, Jr. md. Gansey MCCORMAS
Israel md. Mary Jane KESSLER
Jane md. Barney GARRETT and William Riley Pate
All of these marriages took place in Sangamon County, Illinois.
I believe Henry's parents could have been Dial and Nancy Davis. Brothers
may have been John and Dial.
Sure would appreciate any information on this family.

Katharan I wish I could you more. I recently found out that I have a
serious illness & have been unsubbing to my lists but happened to read
this yesterday. (Still hanging on to Christian Co.)
I am a desc. of Joseph Davis.

They moved from the Mercer,Clark,Montgomery Cos., KY area
to western KY..
By 1797 Christian Co., KY tax list Joseph Davis. His wife was Elizabeth
Grayson Gordon, widow of Capt. John Gordon, slain at Battle of Blue
Licks. In 1810 Joseph & Elizabeth of Hopkins Co. sold their Christian
Co. land (Book B:316-318)
1799 tax list Henderson Co.:Richard,James,John,Thomas.
By the time Hopkins Co. was formed they resided there.
Charles Davis was taxed in Henderson Co. from 1799 to 1809.
I contend that Charles Davis was also a brother.
By 1815 he was in Hopkins Co.

"Bundle 65, Richard Davis vs heirs of James Davis," filed 24 Feb 1809.
James Davis did not die in Hopkins Co. He died enroute to Frankfort..
Can't find exact reference...I think it was in Bundle 65.
James & his sons lived on Flat Creek in Hopkins Co.
Harrison Davis did migrate to Calloway Co., MO where several of his
bros. had gone.
Based on something stated in Bundle 65 I thought Harrison m
a Patsy Smith, but Virginia Couchet states he mar.
in Montgomery Co., KY 30 Aug 1798, Patsey Crockett.
I have NEVER seen a list of his children.
To me it's just not possible that Harrison was the father of the
children Virginia Couchet assigned to him.
Virginia Couchet states that Thomas G. Davis (1827-1903), who m Louisa
Jane Terry was the son of John Davis & Sarah Metcalf.
This was not the Thomas G. Davis that was the son of Joseph Davis.
I never "worked" on this Thomas G. Davis.
Joseph Davis & Elizabeth Grayson Gordon m (bond) 3 Sep 1783, Lincoln
Co., KY. Their children were Priscilla Davis b 1787, m James Martin.
Thomas G. Davis, Benjamin Davis & Israel Davis.
Priscilla Davis was my gr-gr-grandmother.

See page 19 of Davis-Woodruff Families of Western Kentucky by
Virginia Couchot for the reasoning behind the assignment of these
children to Harrison, instead of John or ______ Davis. However, Peggy
Brown Chapman
believes Harrison's children belong to Charles, based on the will of
Thomas Davis which is difficult to read but clearly names Joseph Davis'
children Thomas G and Benjamin Davis. Harrison is gone from the
Hopkins County tax rolls of 1830 and may have gone to Missouri.
Harrison married Martha "Patsy" Smith. They had the following children:
