Robert Crockett's will dated Nov 16, 1746 (Notable Southern Families, Vol. V,
Wills and Court Records, Page 548 Vol. III p. 6)
Alexander's mother Margaret married John Ramsey as her second husband

of the Scotch-Irish in Virginia" ABSTRACTS OF WILLS OF AUGUSTA COUNTY,

Alexander married Mary [Kerr or Campbell], born about 1748. They had six *************** Campbell?
children, Robert, John, Margaret, Elizabeth, Mary and Martha.
Rockbridge County Virginia, including the area where Alexander resided, was
formed from part of Augusta County in 1778, so they resided in Rockbridge
County after 1778. Alexander was listed on the Rockbridge Co. Tithtable for 1778.
Alexander Crockett was a Corporal in Anson Co. [NC] Militia under Cpt Andrew
Pickens Colonial Records Vol 22 p 381. Also in the same company were John
Crockett, Ensign, Archibald and Robert Crockett, Privates. Many North Carolina
and Virginia Militia served with the Revolutionary Army in the last years of the
Revolutionary War, and Alexander and many of his relatives were among them.
The Battle of Guilford County Courthouse in North Carolina was fought on
15 Mar 1781, and many member of the North Carolina Militia fought with the
Continental Army. Cornwallis won, but the victory left the British Army so weak
that it caused them to lose the campaign in the southern colonies, and led to the
surrender at Yorktown. Alexander Crockett is believed to have died shortly after
that engagement of wounds received at Guilford. His will was made on 15 May 1781
at Guilford Court House, North Carolina.

Mary D. and his brother James as executors of his will. (Rockbridge Co. Will Book 1,
      p. 204.) James refused to act as executor and suggested John Cartwell [See NOTE]
and Alexander Rhea. Alexander was listed on the Rockbridge Co. Tithtable for 1778,
but not for 1782. His wife Mary Crockett appeared on the 1782 Tithtable.
