Bio: Mr. Jerry Lee Travis, Sr., 77 of Benton, KY passed away Saturday, May 18, 2019, at Ray and Kay Eckstein Hospice Care Center in Paducah, KY.Born Tuesday, March 24, 1942 in Marshall Co., KY, he was the son of the late Willard L. Travis and the late Annie (Baker) Travis. He honorably served his country during Vietnam later retiring from the United States Air Force as a Master Sergeant. He later embarked on a career with the U.S. Postal service where he retired as a Processing Clerk. He was a member of Walnut Street Baptist Church, Benton, KY.. Surviving are daughter, Jill Allyson Travis of Benton, KY, step-son, Troy Carl Utley, Jr., wife Lori Anne of Benton, KY; brothers, Jimmy Travis of Camden, TN and Larry Travis of Paducah, KY; sisters, Betty Deweese of Metropolis, IL, Sue Downing of Symsonia, KY, Nancy Wood of Benton, KY and Peggy Kinsey of Bandana, KY; grandchildren, Terra Bass, Corey Utley, Amanda Edwards, April Vinton; great-grandchildren, Emree Bass, Kayson SholarHe was preceded in death by his first wife, Joan Amanda (James) Travis; second wife, Peggy L. Travis; son, Jerry Lee Travis, Jr., brother, Donnie Travis and Robert Travis; sister, Elizabeth Hibbs.Funeral Services will be held Thursday, May 23, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of the Collier Funeral Home, Benton, KY. Bro. Joel Frizzell officiating. Interment with military honors will follow the service in the Provine Cemetery, Benton, KY.The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 23, 2019, at Collier Funeral Home, 211 West 5th, Benton, KY.The family asks that memorial contributions be made to the Walnut Street Baptist Church "Feed the Kids", P.O. Box 492, Benton, KY 42025.
