This is the report of the money that I have in my hands as guardian of Thomas Alexander to the date of his death 10/14/1854.

before he died.
At the time he was " about 83 and in infirm health. His wife had been
dead many years and he never remarried."
October, 1851 - " Deposition of William M. Alexander - Thomas owned 100
acres in Davidson County and 200 acres in Williamson County and 15
slaves. Thomas is wasting his estate. Thomas declared incompetant. Power
of Attorney given to Lazarus J. Alexander ( son of William M. Alexander)
of Davidson Co. Tenn. in regard to the sale of Thomas Alexander's
property. In Williamson County court minute book 17/299- 4 Oct. 1854 -
"Wm. M. , son of Thomas, deceased, consents to probate by Isaac Ivy of
Last Will and Testtament of Thomas Alexander. On page # 240, William
contests validity of will. ( will book 12/34).[alexander8.FTW]

A few months after the murder of Samuel Davidson, other frontiersmen, among whom were is twin brother, William, and his brother-in-law John Alexander and wife (sister of Samuel Davidson), and James Alexander (son of John and Rachel Davidson) and family and Thomas Alexander (another son of John and Rachel Davidson) and family, came from the country on the waters of the Catawba River in North Carolina, through Swannanoa Gap and formed at the mouth of Bee Tree Creek, a tributary of Swannanoa River, the first white settlement west of the Blue Ridge in what is now North Carolina. This became known in history as the "Swannanoa Settlement." This was within a little over a mile of the grave of Samuel Davidson, for which they and their descendants have ever since carefully afforded protection.
