Notes for Andrew DERRYBERRY, JR.
-----------------------------------------------------------
From a 2001 post by Ann Turner. She located in Book F p. 233 of the Warren Co., TN deeds a record, dated 19 Jan 1829,
in which Andrew Derryberry Sr of Perry Co, TN makes his son Andrew Jr his lawful attorney in Warren Co.
The following two deed records connect the Andrew Jr. above with Madison Co., TN. Andrew Jr. seems to have had legal
experience based on the entry above, so it is likely that Andrew Jr. is the Andrew Derryberry who later appears in
Madison Co., TN. His birth date and place, 1804 North Carolina as per the 1860 census, is also consistent with having
been a son of Andrew Derryberry the Revolutionary War soldier.
White County, TN Deeds:
11 May 1857. Wallace Newman of Madison Co.,Tennessee appointed Andrew Derryberry his attorney to receive for him the
legacy coming to him from the estate of his great-uncle Thos. Robertson, dec'd. (Delinda's father's brother.)
White County, Tn Deeds:
9 May 1857. John K Matthewson, Cynthia M. Matthewson and William W. Newman of White County, ARK, appointed Andrew
Derryberry of Madison Co., TN their attorney to receive their legacy from the estate of Thos. Robertson, dec'd.
Madison Co. Loose Marriage Bonds p. 74:
Derryberry, Andrew to Gillam, Cynthia. Iss'd. April 8, 1853 - ________ (Clk.)
Witness: Derryberry, Andrew, Whiteside, H. H. [Groom is witness in most of these records.]
Andrew belonged to Clover Creek Baptist church in May 1849 (see his brother Michael's notes for details). A.
Derryberry served as church clerk from Jun 1852 - May 1853.

Derryberry, Andrew, Aug. 27, 1804-Oct. 4, 1870 (broken) [shattered into multiple fragments, only "Andrew" was readable
in 2004; 2 feet south of the marker for Cyntha Derryberry]
Cyntha, wife of Andrew Derryberry, born Jan. 29, 1800, died Sept. 10, 1878.
Records of this Andrew are scarce prior to the 1860 census. Three Andrew Derryberrys are found in the 1830 census in
Tennessee. One is Andrew Sr., the Revolutionary War solider, in Perry Co. In Henderson Co. was Andrew J. (son of
Michael), born 1790-1800, and in Maury Co. is Andrew (son of Adam) b. 1800-1810. This Andrew may well have been still
living in his father's household as one of the 2 males age 20-30.
