Richard was one of the wealthiest and powerful lords of his time, Elizabeth enjoyed prestige and privilege as his wife, second only to the Queen, the Duchess of Lancaster, and the Countess of Buckingham. Their marriage bound two of the most powerful families in England together, along with Elizabeth's brother's marriage to Richard's sister. Elizabeth died at the age of 35, and her husband would remarry to Phillipa de Mortimer, the widow of Sir John de Hastings, before being executed for high treason against King Richard.
