He married Anne —, who was possibly, as has been suggested, a dtr of the stepfather by a 1st wife; but it is also possible that when, in 1665, their son John spoke of Mr. Gosmer as his “grandfather,” it was not because of his mother’s parentage, but because through his father he was a step-grandson. (There is more; see “The Woodruffs of New Jersey”, by Francis E. Woodruff [New York: The Grafton Press,1909] pp. 13ff.) Came to America in 1639, with wife Ann, infant son John III, mother Elizabeth, and stepfather John Gosmer, (and other family?) to Lynn, Mass. The Woodruffs of New Jersey.
