The daughter of Thomas and Rebecca (Todd) Chapman, early pioneers of Gibson County, IN. Capt. Chapman is noted as the founder of Princeton in Cockrum's "Pioneer History of Indiana," coming from Warren County, KY, to the Hoosier state as a prospector in 1814.
Ms. Chapman wed Daniel Mills, of the pioneer family from Kennebec County, ME, on 7 Nov 1823. She bore him 10 children before his untimely death in 1846. Eight years later, she married a Mr. James P. Dillon, of whom very little is known. By 1880, she was again a widow and living with her daughter, Margery, in Princeton. She died nine years later at the age of 84. There is a nice piece written on them and the location of their farm in Stormont's "History of Gibson County" (see p.290, "The Old Crossway to Kirk's Mill.").
