Page 458 of "THE ALLENS AND THE HARRISON OF THE KINGDOM OF CALLAWAY" by Crockett Allen Harrison found in the Augusta County Library, Fisherville, VA: "Richard Burton, who may have been a son of Francis Burton, Gent. of England, arrived in Virginia about 1650. His wife was Katherine Christian. They were married in England March 3, 1605. It is probable that some brothers and sisters of Richard also came to Virginia about 1650. They married with Parkers, Frys and others whose names appear in the records of this area for the period under consideration. Seven children are listed: Francis, John, Judith, Robert, Samuel, Richard and Thomas. Thomas married Susanna Allen, daughter of Valentine Allen." Richard would have been very old (approx. 70yrs) to travel from England to America in 1650....not unheard of, but fairly unusual. One significant item of information is the family migrated to Virginia in 1635, so the children, it appears, were born in England, not in Virginia as others have concluded, and in some cases shown on the download..
