John Crockett, son of Alexander Crockett and Mary D. Kerr Crockett was born
in Augusta County Virginia. Rockbridge Virginia was formed from part
of Augusta County in 1778, and the area where the family lived became Rockbridge County.
John moved with his mother and stepfather Alexander Rhea and siblings from
Virginia to Montgomery Co. Kentucky between 1782 and 1791
John Crockett married Jennie Cartmill, daughter of Thomas Cartmill,
in Montgomery Co. Kentucky in April of 1800.

BIOGRAPHY: John sold his land in Bath Co., Kentucky in 1835 and moved to
Missouri. (Note: Deed for sale of land in Bath Co., KY dated 9/11/1835]
He filed a claim for land in Ralls county, Missouri on November 11, 1835.
It is believed that his wife Jenny Cartmill Crockett died within two months
of that date. John died in Missouri by 1839, as a petition was made
dated 8 Oct 1839 by his children to divide the estate, and the petition
stated that he was deceased at that time. This petition is recorded
in Ralls County, Missouri.

married Jenny Cartmill, 17 Apr 1800, in Montgomery Co., KY by the Rev.
Joseph P. Howe, minister of Springfield, Presbyterian Church 1795-1826.
Rev. Howe's original manuscript of marriage is in the Presbyterian Historical
Society, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. This church [Springfield Presbyterian Church]
which was originally located in Montgomery County, is now
located in Bath County, Kentucky, since the county was formed from part
of Montgomery County in 1811."
