Christopher butler obtained a land grant for 640 acres in Franklin Co. North Carolina on October 10, 1783 on land that he entered on July 10, 1778. It lay along the waters of Little Peachtree Creek. Another record shows that this transaction occurred on October 10, 1784. This property was along the lines of Thomas Babbs, John Taylor, Elias Gay, and Farrell's road together with "his own line" on Peachtree. Christoper Butler and his wife Ann sold this land in 1792 and 1793. On October 8, 1792 Christopher Butler was of Nash County, North Carolina, when he sold 10 acres of land in Framkin Co. to William Babb, possibly related to Thomas Babbs listed as a adjoining landowner when he purchased the 640 acres of land. The deed was also signed by Ann Butler. In March 28, 1793 Christopher Butler sold the remaining 302 acres of land in Franklin Co. The Williams Babb, adjoining Thomas Babb. Chris Butler died between the period of November 16, 1807, when he executed the deed and November 20, 1807 when is estate sale was held in Duplin. On the latter date, Aaron Davis conducted the sale, serving as administrator of his estate. It is highly unusual that his older son was not named as the executor his estate. The estate was a substantial one, comprising three pages of items sold 1807. His widow was Bliz. Butler. On Sept 14, 1818 the estate fo Christopher Butler was finally settled. An 1817 payment for schooling of Lisa Butler indicated that their son wasa minor when Christopher died. The amount to be divied amoung the lawful heirs ws $218.69 , and it was determined that there were on two heirs- the widow who recived $72.89 and 2/3 cents and the son Lisa, who inherited $145.60 and 1/3 cents. The age of majority at the period of thime should have been 21, and this probably represented the time period when Lisa turned 21.
