3. Peter Culp (Hans Kaspar (Casper) ) was born about 1732 in Pennsylvania. He died after Aug 1791 in Chester County, South Carolina.
Peter fought in the Cherokee (French-Indian War) in SC 1763 and wasthe bearer of a letter from Rev Wm Richardson of Chester Co to CiolRichard Richardson of the SC Militia, then stationed in Camden. TheShawnee Indians had invaded the area and killed King Haigler, Chief ofthe Catawba Indians, who were friendly to the white settlers. Theletter asked for military help and included the following: Peter Culpthe bearer is an active young man, a good woodsman and we expect hisexcelly will promote him to what comm. he pleases over the scout.
In 1781 Peter served in the SC militia during the Rev as a foot andhorse soldier for a total of 53 days under Cpt George Neely in ColRichard Lacey's REg, supplying his own horse and gun.

Peter married Elizabeth Ferguson daughter of James Ferguson and Sarah LNU Ferguson about 1769. Elizabeth was born about 1748. She died on 20 Oct 1794 in Chester County, South Carolina.
They had the following children:

+ 12 M ii Austin Culp was born about 1770. He died about 1814.
+ 13 M iii Henry Culp was born about 1774. He died in 1814.
+ 14 F iv Mary (Mollie) Culp was born in 1780. She died on 3 Aug 1840.
15 F v Elizabeth Culp 1 was born 2 about 1782 in South Carolina.
Elizabeth married 2 William Cochran Hunter 1 son of David Hunter and Agnes Ross after 1802. William was born 3 in 1750/1782 in South Carolina.
16 M vi Benjamin Culp 1 was born 2 in 1783. He died 3 in 1802.

Peter served in the SC Militia during the Rev. War as a foot and horse soldier under Capt. George Neely in Col. Richard Lacey's Regt., supplying his own horse and gun. Peter appears in the 1790 Census for Chester Co., SC with 4 sons, 2 daus., and 9 slaves. Peter's will dated 22 Aug 1791 [Chester Co. Will Book A, p. 65]. Both Peter and Elizabeth are buried in unmarked graves.
