JOSEPH FOX born in North Caroline in 1782, was a son of John and Elizabeth Loving Fox. John, the father, was a veteran of the Revolutionary War. Prior to 1811, Joseph immigrated to Maury Co., for on 27 Feb of that year, he was married to Nancy Hannah Church. Both the Fox and Church families were residents of the Bethel neighborhood, on Leiper's Creek, not far south of the Williamson County line. During the War of 1812, Joseph marched off with Capt. John Chisholm's Company to fight the British. He returned to his home at the end of his period of service and fathered 10 children before dying on 20 Nov. 1842.
