biography of Edmond's parents:
John and Rachel were 2nd cousin's as well as husband and wife.
In 1850 he is a widower age 50, with daughter Mary age 18, Adaline age 16, and son William Jefferson Age 9. All born in Tennessee. He is a first cousin to Benjamin Lentz. He is
in the 1870 census of Bedford Cnty, Tennessee. Wife: Rachel age 44, he is 66. Children are Thomas age 15, Sarah age 12, Edmond age 5, Lucy Ann not listed but would have been 19. She is with them in 1860 age 9, and Rachel's son Micheal Thompson age 11. They must have come to Christian County, shortly after 1870. Land deeds of Bedford County,Tennessee, Book KKK pg. 491, Wife Rachel Ann Lentz were examined for disposition and it was determined that she freely entered into agreement to sell. This appears to be the land of Rachel - it is located in 18th District and joins property of Sophia Johnson and William A. Allen. 42 acres and 56 poles. Rachel relinquishes right under homestead. This is the last record of John and Rachel in Bedford County, Tennessee and confirms date of 1875 when family moved to Missouri. John Lentz is in the 1840 census of Bedford County, Middle District.
1850 census he is in Dist. 18, #6.
1860 he is listed 18th Dist. P.C., Shelbyville, #1252
1870 he is listed 18th Dist. P.O., Palmentie #193
1880 he is in Christian County, Missouri.
John's birth is from records of Old Organ Church in Rowan County, NC. Records translated
into English from German by Cruse and are in the public library in Salisbury, Rowan County, NC.
