He married Sarah Bell Kirk, daughter of Archibald Kirk and Elizabeth Roark, on 16 Jan 1873 Pleasant Hill, Carroll, TN (9 ch).42 He died on 26 Oct 1934 Soper, Choctaw, OK, at age 84 (or d. 25 Oct).
He appeared on the census of 1900 in Carroll, TN (dist. 24 (Westport), no. 127: I. G. Butler 29 TN NC KY, B? 47, Luther 19, Archy 15, Helm? (Hulin) 13, Pearl 11, Dasey (Daisy) 8). He moved to Sulphur Springs, Hopkins, TX, in 1901 then ca. 1902 moved to near Soper, OK. He appeared on the census of 1920 Choctaw, OK (1920, v 11/ed 74/p 7/ln 82: Isaac G. Butler 68 TN, Sarah 66 TN, Hulan 32 TN son).

The given name John Grey/Gray is common in the Blount family of his paternal grandmother Mary Drucilla Blount.

He is probably named after Archibald Lammonds of Montgomery Co. NC (or one of his several descendants also named Archibald). He appeared on the census of 1920 Choctaw, OK (town of Soper, Queen Ave.: Arch L. Butler 33 TN, Mamie 27 TX, Kellen 3 5/12 CA son, Keneth 11/12 OK son).
vii. Hulen T.; m. Carrie (--?--) (3 ch); d. CA; b. circa 1888. SS Death Index has a Hulan Butler b. 2 Jun 1887 d. CA Aug 1975, card issued in CO as was his brother Arch's. He given name Hulan/Hulen/Hulon may indicate relationship to Hulin family of Montgomery Co. NC. He appeared on the census of 1920 Choctaw, OK (enum. with parents). After 1920 he lived in CA.
viii. Pearl Elizabeth; b. 9 Feb 1889 Carroll, TN; m. James Edgar Campbell Dec 1915;42 d. May 1982 Yucca Valley,, CA, at age 93. She res. with her father in 1910; in 1920, both she and her husb. lived with her father.

51. Marilyn L.3 Butler (Joshua2, Elias1); (or Mary L) was born in 1853 TN. She married John Durol Gooch, son of William L. Gooch and Sarah H. Taylor, on 21 Oct 1877 Carroll, TN (her first). She married Joel Oliver Butler, son of Thomas E. Butler and Jacintha (--?--), on 1 Dec 1897 Carroll, TN (his 2nd, her 2nd; no known ch). Note a divorce of J. O. Butler and M. L. Butler 1907 Carroll Co. TN records - may be transcription error (year should be 1901?) or a later proceeding following the actual divorce. In Mar 1901 he apparently mar. Dicey (Hogg) Nolen, the widow of John W. Nolen.44
