Benjamin Wallingford and 315. Prudence Elliot. Notes for Michael Hargan: On the tombstone of Michael Hargan at Patterson Chapel Cemetery, Ft. Knox Military Reservation, Ky., states "At the age of 16, Michael immigrated, with two sisters, from Ireland to New York, circa 1768. On 10 Feb 1776, he enlisted in the 1st Penn. Regimant as a rifleman, at Hagerstown, Maryland and served 14 months in the Continental Army with Captain John Nelson, under the command of Colonel De Hoss. On 3 Aug 1791 Michael married Elizabeth Wallingford at Berkeley, Virginia. A land grant of 400 acres from Patrick Henry, Governor of Virginia, enabled Michael and family to locate on the Rolling Fork River, which later became part of Hardin County, Ky. Specifically: Probably buried on her farm Memorial #: 167919690 Bio: Please note that some researchers spell her last name as "Volck." That may have been the original spelling, back in Germany, and after the family immigrated to America, the spelling was changed to "Folg," because that was how it was pronounced. She was the daughter of John Michael Folg. She MAY have been the stepdaughter of George Utz, but this has not been confirmed. She married John Hoffman on July 13, 1729, and they had twelve children. (Please see his memorial for their names and dates of birth.) Her husband died in the summer of 1772. She was still living in 1782, as she was listed on the Culpeper County Personal Tax List that year. But since she was not listed the following year, it is believed that she died in late 1782, or early 1783.
