Tradition states that he arrived at the port of Norfolk and lived a few years in that vicinity before moving to Fredericksburg, in Spotsylvania county, Virginia. He was living in Spotsylvania county by September 1, 1724 when he made a deposition regarding an Indian in which he states he is "aged about 23 years." William Frazer died in March, 1734 and on April 3, 1734 his widow Frances Frazer was appointed to administer his estate. She married George D. Davidson. They were the parents of seven children: Sarah, Hanceford, Alney, John P., Margaret M., George H., and Fidelus. It is likely that the 4 other children buried in the family cemetery are George and Sarah's children also - Dovey (died at age 5); Ruth (died at age 17); Ben J. (died at age 11); and William (died at 27). Sarah died on October 4, 1837 of milk fever, an illness which took several family members. The family had moved from North Carolina to Franklin County in the early 1800's and later to Mississippi to raise cotton. A letter from R.B. Davidson to his cousin Allen Davidson relates the family's tragedy after moving from Tennessee to Mississippi: "Dec 18th 1892, Tennessee My Dear Cousin Allen, Did you know that we had an Uncle named George Davidson? He moved to Tennessee at the early part of this century, bringing his family from N.C. and settled in Franklin County. His wife's name was Sally McWhorter...Now came from Mississippi news of a scourge that swept nearly the whole family into their graves, except Hance and George. That is the parents of the family, and sons Pinkney, Alney and Lawson, all died suddenly of milk sickness. He was also the father in law of Jacob Holeman, Rebecca's third husband. He and Jacob Holeman and another man, Caswell Mason, who was a brother in law to Jacob Holeman were very active in establishing the General Baptist Church in western Kentucky and probably in Illinois and Missouri. On a tip from a lady on the internet named Mamie Tate, who has done extensive research on the Holeman family, I discovered that in the Hopkins Co. Ky. county clerks office in KY Court order book 1845-46, page 405 there is a notation that Ludwell Brackett has been ordained a Minister of the Gospel at General Baptist Church. This is dated 9 March **** 1846. On Aug. 2, 2003 I received a photocopy of that page of the record book showing where he had presented credentials as proof of his ordination as a minister of the gospel for the General Baptist Church. He took the oath of Fidelity to the Commonwealth of Kentucky. He listed Travis Sisk and Abner Henson as security as required by law. He was granted the right to perform matrimonial ceremonies for persons regularly applying to him for that purpose in this state. NOTE: This document is very difficult to read.
